Those who come and cross Príncipe Real are not indifferent to the window of A Cevicheria. There are those who pass slowly to take a look at the environment, there are those who can't resist and when they find out, they already have Pisco in their hands. The truth is that you can breathe the atmosphere of the cuisine of A Cevicheria in one of the busiest areas of Lisbon, where we can take a trip to Peru without losing the familiar touch of our flavours.
Francisco Martins, better known as Chef Kiko, is one of the most highly regarded Portuguese Chefs and one of the boldest and most creative minds behind some of the best restaurants in Portugal. Born in Rio de Janeiro – Brazil, after his parents left Portugal, he returns to the country of his heart at age 11, without ever losing the influences of Brazilian culture.
Already in Lisbon, started with the opening of the restaurant
“O Talho” in 2013, which was later followed by “A Cevicheria”,
“O Poke” and “O Boteco”. All with a great mix of gastronomic influences and with the same desire as always: “serving the world at the table of the Portuguese”.
Throughout his career, he has also participated in television
and radio programs with a strong knowledge transmission component: Chefs' Academy, Chefs' Academy Kids, Cook Off
In 2016, he won the “Prix au Chef de L'Avenir” award given by the International Academy of Gastronomy.
It stands out for the simplicity with which it gives itself to the kitchen and for the way it makes each meal a unique moment
of sharing. Between restaurants, television, events and books,
it's hard to find Chef Kiko standing still. By the way, one of his hobbies is running and that's how he likes to manage all his ideas that never stop!
Cevicheria was born from the desire to present the traditional Peruvian dish – Ceviche – with a touch of our Portuguese taste. Ingredients as familiar as cod are called to the table, among many dishes inspired by new ways of cooking and tasting fish. In addition to the South American tradition of Ceviche and Pisco Sour, typical national, Asian and tropical flavors are added.
No, it's not the girl who is at the window of A Cevicheria,
but anyone who has visited the space is well aware of the moment of sharing the traditional Peruvian cocktail. What better way to start a meal than with a toast? Or several! Pisco Sour sets the tone for a short trip to Peru, even before trying the tasting menu. The typical drink of South American cuisine is based on Peruvian brandy and a touch of lime, in an “addictive” mixture of sweetness and acidity.
There are those who say that you can't talk about
A Cevicheria without talking about this famous Príncipe Real window (yes, the giant octopus on top of the counter too). We can say that it is an extension of our cuisine
and our spirit to the atmosphere of the streets of Lisbon.
So don't be surprised if we receive it with Pisco in the hand, among toasts and conversations, because that's how you receive someone who is already “in the house”.
